An 80-litre stainless steel poultry scalding tank rated 4 kW — the step between slaughter and plucking, and the one that decides how well the plucker works. Scalding loosens the feathers so the drum can pull them. Water that is too cool leaves them gripped and the bird comes out half-plucked; too hot and the skin tears and discolours, which downgrades the carcass. A thermostatted tank holds that window instead of leaving it to a kettle and guesswork. Sized for small commercial slaughter, where scalding by hand in drums has become the bottleneck.
